VOTING - YOUR RIGHT
Voting is one of the most important civic responsibilities we all have. Although presidential election years see very high voter turnout, it is important for citizens to also cast their ballots in other Federal, State, County and local city/town elections held every year.
Some common voter questions:
CAN I CHANGE MY ADDRESS OR REGISTER TO VOTE ONLINE? YES. If you have a New York State driver's license, you can register online here: https://voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/MotorVoter
IF I VOTED BEFORE AND HAVE NOT CHANGED MY ADDRESS SINCE, DO I NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN? NO. If you have not changed your address since the last time you voted, you are already registered.
CAN I VOTE VIA ABSENTEE BALLOT, EVEN IF I AM NOT SICK OR OUT OF TOWN? YES.
To keep voters safe from the COVID-19 virus, Governor Cuomo has given permission for all people to vote via absentee ballot. To do so, you must file an application. If approved, the board will send you an absentee ballot you can fill out and send back.
CAN I APPLY ONLINE FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT? YES.
The State of New York has set up an online portal to make applying for an absentee ballot fast and easy. Access the portal here: https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov
CAN I REGISTER TO VOTE WITHOUT A DRIVER'S LICENSE? YES.
